עצוב עצוב. הכרתי את שרי כשלמדה באקדמיה בירושלים, ואני בתיכון. למדנו אצל אותו המורה. תמיד חיבבתי אותה, תמיד ראיתי בה אדם נעים, אישה טובה, יופי מקרין סביבה. צר לי מאוד. תנחומי הכנים.

I hope you forgive me the English, this computer doesn't have Hebrew. As a classmate of Sari, someone who spent about 12 years together most days and nights, I feel your loss. There was more I didn't know about Sari then what I did know. She knew things I didn't, like when she told me (we were maybe 10) that her eyes were tearing from the cold while we were riding the bikes in the winter, so I would know she was not crying – and I didn't yet know that cold makes you tear. She knew how to knit like an adult (again when we were about 10), I had no idea who tought her. Ohter adults in the kibbuts marvelled to me about her, like Sonia from Beit Cholim: How beautiful she was, how smart, I had no idea how they knew. I got to know more about Sari when she got married. It so happend that my then boyfriend and her husband knew each other and were going on and on in idalistic conversations. This is when I realized Sari cared about the fortunes of the unfortunate, and about justice. And then I lef the country and didn't speak to Sari for about 40 years until last August. As we were planning our class reunion this year, I received 2 very laconic emails, she was very happy for the renewed contact, she was looking forward to the reunion. I am so sorry that I didn't use the opportunity then to catch up and finally see Sari with my adult eyes, I carelessly looked for the modern convenience of communication and email was not that. I know now that our reunion this year will be centered around Sari and the loss of her. Thinking of you in these sad days and hoping you find comfort with family and friends.
