   Dear Rachel,Amir,Daniel, Family Members and Community of Afikim

   Only today I heard that Deborrah Bartfeld has passed away and a deep pain has hit my heart. I wanted to congratulate Deborrah to her birthday and wanted to visit her in March, but I was comming too late for to see her in person. So all I can do now is to honour Deborrah in this way and I am very greatful that I get at least here in internet this opportuninity.

   I met Deborrah and her husband Eisig back in the early seventies as a volonteer and they have opend for me their home and hearts in a way that has deeply touched and influenced me for all my life. This amazing way of Kibbuz life that they have build up togehter with all the Kibbuz Comunity, just made me stunning and defenitly changed my way of thinking forever. They became a family for me and I lissoned in what they believed without that they ever would try to teach.They where to me, the young girl who come from Austria/Germany, whos home coutry has been responseabel for the Shoa, so unbeleveabel tolerant, they have never, ever given me a bad, guilty feeling. This was teaching me what is tolerance and I was trying to live this tolerance all my life. I as well have never, ever heard them saying one single negative word about other peopel. Always positiv, Eisigs great humor and their both great hospitality,their high moral,integrity and loyality was impressing and influencing me. Through them I have changed many points of view about life and I highly respected and loved them since then. It was a shock for all of us that Eisig had to leave us so early and left Debborah behind – but not allone! Her three children blessed her and her life with many grandchildren and all has loved their sabta so much. I have stayed with Deborrah in touch over the years and she made me stunning over and over again, how activ she stayd when most of the people allready enjoyed to retire. But even then, when she really needed to stop working, she never stopped learning and took classes over classes to learn more about music and many other things. Untill her last days she continued to take this classes and I admired her for that too. She is an exampel for a great generation, a generation that will never return, a generation that has experienced the worse that human beeings can experience and has build up Israel and Kibbuz life. Something that is unique in the history of human beeings. They build up the Kibbuz life, a so special way of life that not many people are even really able to appriciate and able to live it. But it will come the time when all humans need to learn in the future, what this builders and founders of Kibbuz life has allready learned so long ago: that the only way to live a real human life is to care for each other, mutual responseability. ARVUT. I tryed to learn and keep on learning and taking exampel of this great generation and of our great Debborah Bartfeld. During the last years I was not able to visit Deborrah anymore and hoped I will see her in March again. We both could not make it anymore

   My heart is full of blessings for this great, great soul. May the Creator and the Upper Light bless our so beloved Deborrah with all what her soul needs to take a rest from this long and special way of life and may she return to us again with the same strengh and givinng heart. I will miss you very much.
